THE ALBACORES OF LA MANGA SPAIN by Andre Huys

I was invited in La Mange Spain ( near Cartagena ) on a biggame fishingboat
for 2 days fishing.

These 2 days are a training to prepare us for a competition later this summer.
The boat is a beautiful and confortable biggamer, 42 feet with +/- 800HP.
We start 07H00 for 12 hours trips.
The fishingground is about 2 hours, 40 – 50 Nm from the marina.
We troll with 10 lines: 7 X50 with Halcos 2X50 with small luhres on the outriggers 1X 80 with a big wistling luhre or a big artificial bonito – 120 m after the boat.
The first day the sea was flat, to calm.
We got 1 albacore +/- 8Kg.

The second day the sea was choppy, 2 a 3 Bf.
We got 6 beautiful fishes between 10 and 20Kg.
It were 2 nice days and so we are ready to do it again in the late summer,
but then for the tuna tournament.
